Patsy Kensit launches Parents for Playgrounds

Childhood memories of playing out in the streets or local parks are perhaps the fondest memories of all, an age of innocence and freedom where danger was what was experienced when you had to sneak into someones garden to retrieve a football that you had miskicked over a wall.

Research released from Play England suggests that 90% of adults reguarly played out in the streets as children, but 29% of children today say they do not play or hang out in their street at all.

The research also reveals that 50% of parents say there aren’t enough places for their children to play safely where they live without an adult.

Today sees Robinsons announce its partnership with TV star and celebrity mum of two, Patsy Kensit launch its Parents for Playgrounds campaign.

It asks parents to nominate a playground close to them that is need of repair, to give it the chance of winning a renovation bursary of up to £15,000. The Parents for Playgrounds campaign is also backed by Play England and is designed to promote and preserve traditional outdoor play around the country and help the UK’s children stay active, healthy and happy.

To  nominate playgrounds local to them that are in need of repair via its new parenting website www.readyforten.com from 15^th February to the 16^th of March 2011. During that month, supporter of ‘Parents for Playgrounds’ and mum to two boys, Patsy Kensit, will become guest editor of Ready for Ten to encourage other parents to get involved in the mission and get nominating.

Madonna

Madonna was apparently treated at hospital in New York at the weekend after being thrown from the horse she was riding when paparazzi jumped out of the bushes to get a photograph, startling the animal.

The singer was treated for minor injuries and bruising but the media have denied causing the accident and said that if this was the case the photograph would have been seen by now.

The Essex home of Jade Goody has been put up for sale at a cost of almost £1million, with all the money going to the trust fund set up for her two sons, Bobby and Freddy.

Goody died at her home on Mother’s Day after losing her battle with cervical cancer and had instructed her mother Jackiey and husband Jack Tweed to sell the property when they felt the time was right.

Patsy Kensit married her boyfriend Jeremy Healy on Saturday in a civil ceremony surrounded by famous faces at the event in Whitehall Place.

It’s the fourth time for Kensit, after marrying her first husband Dan Donovan in 1988.  After her divorce, she married Jim Kerr in 1992 and had a son, divorced and then married Liam Gallagher in 1997 and had her second son.

The Singaporean, Brazilian, British and Malaysian ladies, all opted for Brad Pitt, while Australians chose Hugh Jackman. The people of Hong Kong opted for David Beckham and Nicole Kidman.

The Scottish actor Ewan McGregor, who is an ambassador of Unicef, is auctioning off his beloved Moto Guzzi Californian Vintage motorcycle to help children around the world.

The machine will appear on Ebay this evening from 8pm and the auction will run until the 7th December, and the 37-year-old has said that “whoever wins this bike will not be disappointed”.
