Lily Allen - GQ's 'Woman of the Year 2009'

Lily Allen was named GQ’s ‘Woman Of The Year’ last night at the men’s magazine’s annual award ceremony held at London’s Royal Opera House.

The Formula One driver Jenson Button was voted ‘Sportsman Of The Year’ at the prize-giving event with ‘Take That’ being awarded ‘Band Of The Year’.

During a British press conference today for the Michael Jackson Tribute show, Jermaine Jackson broke down and cried when he was asked about his families mourning process.

Jermaine stated that Michael didn’t just belong to his family but to the world and told of how are it had been to move on.  The tribute to the ‘King Of Pop’ takes place in Vienna, Austria on the 26th September, with a host of stars including Mary J Blige, Akon, Natalie Cole, Stevie Wonder, R. Kelly and Sister Sledge.

Former Spice Girl Mel C, has signed-up to make her debut on stage in the West End after joining the cast of one of the longest running musical shows ‘Blood Brothers’.

The 35-year-old singer, became a mother for the first time in February when she gave birth to daughter Scarlett and is said to appearing on the show from 26th October 2009.

Jack Tweed, husband of the late Jade Goody, has been arrested today according to reports, amid claims that a teenager was sexually assaulted at his house in the early hours of this morning.

The 19-year-old victim, went to a police station this morning to report the attack, claiming that Tweed and a friend had put her through a degrading ordeal at the Tweed’s home.

Michael Jackson’s funeral finally took place last night attended by 200 mourners at the private family service, which began with the singers three children sharing a private moment with their fathers coffin which they placed a crown on top of.

Dame Elizabeth Taylor, 77, attended the service along with Lisa Marie Presley, Macaualy Caulkin, Stevie Wonder and Gladys Knight.

The pop star Pete Burns, singer of the band Dead Or Alive, today reached an out-of-court settlement of a reported £450,000 against a Harley Street plastic surgeon.

The 49-year-old singer, was left severely disfigured after undergoing a lip filling procedure.  Burns has since undergone over 100 operations to repair the damage and was at one point told that one option was to amputate his lips.

Michael Jackson’s memorial service is to take place today at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles with a host of celebrities of hand to give one of the most spectacular send-off’s the World has ever seen.

It has so far been confirmed that Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, Usher, Lionel Richie, Jennifer Hudson, John Mayer and Martin Luther King lll, will all appear in honour of ‘The King Of Pop’ with a variety of songs and readings.

The 80’s American singer Sinitta, has separated from her husband Andy Willner who she married in April of 2002.  They adopted two children in July 2009 after a surrogate mother lost the twins she was carrying for the couple.

Sinitta is best known for her part in the popular X Factor programme as well as her close relationship with former boyfriend Simon Cowell.

According to reports, David Beckham is being lined-up to appear with Angelina Jolie as part of the new Armani advertising campaign.

Jolie is the new spokeswoman for the Armani brand and Beckham has been the admired body on the posters for a couple of years now, putting the two together is bound to get the worldwide attention that the company hope for.

Glenn Close - Fatal Attraction

The actress Glenn Close, has been honoured by a star on the Hollywood walk of fame and said that anyone who hates her onscreen characters could now “stomp” on her.

Close, famous for Fatal Attraction and many other roles was the latest of the 2,378th stars on the famous walkway.

All the stars are lining-up for the inaugural celebrations of Barack Obama on Sunday at the Lincoln Memorial.

Beyonce, U2, Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, Usher, Shakira, Sheryl Crow, Josh Groban, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder and Mary J. Blige are just some of the top acts expected on stage, which will be televised.

According to reports, the lovely Kelly Brooks has been signed-up as a judge on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.  The 29-year-old actress, will join Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan on the show.

Gorgeous Johnny Depp and his long-time girlfriend Vanessa Paradis are reported to be getting married in April after being together for ten-years.

The couple have two children together, Lily-Rose, 9 and Jack, 6, and have expressed their desire to have an intimate ceremony at their home in France.

A fitting award for one of the true greats of popular music over the last forty odd years. Latterly Stevie Wonder concerts have become a bit of a rarity in the UK, but the Stevie Wonder UK tour is now underway with upcoming dates at London’s O2 Arena, Manchester MEN Arena and the NIA in Birmingham.

The Stevie Wonder back catalogue is among the most impressive in popular music with hits including Yesterme Yesteryou Yesterday, Never Had A Dream Come True, My Cherie Amour, For Once In My Life, Until You Come Back To Me, You Are The Sunshine Of My Life, Superstition the list goes on and on.

During the sixties Stevie Wonder was the most prolific of the Tamla Motown ‘hit factory’, but it was in 1972 that he was able to create and produce his first masterpiece in the form of Talking Book. The album featured the incredible Superstition, a song originally intended for the rock and blues guitarist Jeff Beck and noted a clear departure from his previous work. The grown up pop of You Are The Sunshine Of My Life kept the old audience entranced reaching number one in the singles charts.

Innervisions followed the same funkier sound of it’s predecessor featuring the excellent tracks Higher Ground and Living For The City. Fulfillingness First Finale  concluded the trilogy of albums that denoted a period in which the singer was at his creative best. Featuring the tracks You Haven’t Done Nothin’, a political protest song aimed at Richard Nixon and his administration, and the brilliant Boogie On Reggae Woman Stevie Wonder was on top form.

Stevie Wonder would go on to make better selling album’s but in my opinion none would top the work of those few years in the early seventies or even the pop hits of the late sixties.
