Terry Wogan finished his final Radio 2 Breakfast Show today after hosting the programme for almost 40-years, saying that it was a sad day that he had been dreading.

The 71-year-old, will continue to be the host of the annual ‘Children In Need’ fund-raiser as well as hosting a new programme on Radio 2 in the New Year.

Kevin Jonas, the eldest of the singing Jonas brothers, is set to marry his girlfriend Danielle Deleasa this weekend in Long Island, New York.

The wedding rehearsal is set to take place today featuring a roller skating rink with Kevin confirming that both his brothers will play the role of ‘Best Man’.

According to reports, the actress Melanie Griffith, has undergone surgery to remove the early stages of skin cancer from her face.

The 52-year-old who is married to Spanish actor Antonio Banderas had the surgery early before any complications set-in, the Working Girl actress has been left with a black eye after the operation but is said to fine.

Piers Morgan has announced that he has proposed to his girlfriend Celia Walden while on holiday in France and she has said yes!

Dirty Den - Eastenders

Leslie Grantham, who played the part of Dirty Den in Eastenders, is being hailed a hero after helping residents in an apartment block to safety when fire broke-out.

The 62-year-old actor, was allegedly staying with a friend in the apartments when the fire was noticed, he then made sure that all the residents got out safely before being treated for smoke inhalation and cuts.

The 17-year-old brother of Aston Villa footballer Luke Young, Andre,  has been found dead with head injuries on the Greek Island of Crete, after a night out drinking with his friends.

The body was found on a building site near to the hotel he was staying at yesterday morning, after he was last seen staggering up a street the previous evening the worse for wear.  The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Terry Wogan has agreed to waive his payment for presenting ‘Children In Need’ again this year after it was revealed that he had been paid up to £1,300 an hour before 2007.

The 71-year-old, claimed to have not known that he was being paid to host the charity show and stated that he had himself raised thousands of pounds a year for the appeal.

Mamma Mia star Pierce Brosnan’s Irish eyes must be smiling today as he tops a national UK poll to unearth the sexiest Irish celebrity, with 14% of the country and over a quarter (26%) of UK women finding him the sexiest Irish star.  Bad boy Colin Farrell and singing stunner Andrea Corr both came in second place polling 10% of the vote each, with Hollywood hell-raiser Colin also scoring with the boys – 3% of British men think he’s the sexiest Irish star.

The YouGov* survey, commissioned by communications consultancy Eulogy! to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, wasn’t good news for all – poor Louis Walsh must have mislaid his X Factor as he didn’t score a single vote when even smooth-tongued presenter Terry Wogan managed 2% of the vote.  And, unlike their music, musicians Bono and Bob Geldof didn’t even get a look-in in the top 10, both polling enough votes for an equal fifteenth place (1% each).

The top three sexiest Irish women, as voted by the men, are: Andrea Corr in first place (with 19%), the One Show’s Christine Bleakley second (with 11%) and Girls Aloud’s Nadine Coyle third (with 10%).  However, Bangor beauty and Dancing On Ice star Zoe Salmon scored highly in her home region of Northern Ireland with 16% – coming in overall first place in Northern Ireland.

And the sexiest men, as voted by the women: Pierce in first place with 26%, Colin Farell second with 17% and Ronan Keating third with 13% of the vote.

Natasha Richardson, daughter of Vanessa Redgrave is critically ill in hospital after suffering head injuries in a skiing accident in Canada yesterday.

Richardson is also the sister of Joely Richardson and is married to Liam Neeson who has rushed to her side leaving his filming in Toronto.  The 45-year-old actress was initially given emergency treatment at a nearby hospital before being transferred according to reports.

Terry Wogan had a lucky escape last night when the tumble dryer caught fire in his Buckinghamshire home.  Fortunately, his daughter heard the fire alarm and the family got out before fire services turned-up.

The fire was contained within the utility room and firemen put out the fire within minutes with little damage caused to the house.

Kate Garraway has come top in a poll for women that men secretly adore after beating Jackie Bramble’s in second and Sian Williams in third.

The poll in men’s magazine Nuts is in it’s third year and last year’s winner Fern Britton came in fourth for 2008.  She was followed by Jane MacDonald, Nigella Lawson, Lorraine Kelly, Helen Mirren, Kirstie Allsopp and Jo Frost.

It has been revealed that last month singer Toni Braxton had a tumour removed from her breast, although thankfully it was benign.

Braxton was told to continue with the ‘Dancing With Stars’ show but confessed to be relieved when she was voted out as she wanted to get the treatment over after losing her grandmother to breast cancer.

Kym Marsh

Kym Marsh, the Coronation Street actress, has revealed that she and her new boyfriend, Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas, are expecting a baby.

Marsh, formally married to Jack Ryder, is due to give birth in the Summer and said that they are delighted with the news.

After hosting the show for 35-years, Terry Wogan has quit the Eurovision Song Contest which will now be hosted by Graham Norton.

The competition is to take place in Moscow from next year with Britain’s 2009 song being written by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Boy George, aka George O’Dowd, has today been found guilty of falsely imprisoning a male escort.  The singer handcuffed the escort to his bed while accusing him of tampering with his computer.

O’Dowd is expected to be sentenced on 16th January and has been warned by Judge David Radford, that he is ‘likely’ to face jail.
