twiggy helping find homes for retired racing greyhounds

Sixties icon and current Marks & Spencer model Twiggy will front a campaign alongside former European and Commonwealth champion and dog lover Iwan Thomas, to help increase the number of Greyhound dogs finding new homes in 2011.

They will both be supported in the campaign by The Retired Greyhound Trust based in Kent and Greyhound UK Buses, to ensure that unwanted Greyhounds are found loving homes.

It has long been considered that Greyhounds have the perfect temperament for pets, they are docile and loving and despite not looking as cuddly as a Labrador, they are equally as rewarding to own and a fantastic companion to have in and out of the house.

Racing Greyhounds have no value to owners and trainers once they have finished their track ‘career’ and have for years been discarded and left to fend for themselves once their racing days are over.

The Retired Greyhound Trust has worked endlessly over the years to promote the plight of these abandoned dogs and help to find them new and caring owners.

Iwan Thomas and Twiggy will be promoting the latest campaign through the various media channels to encourage dog lovers to consider a Greyhound when choosing a pet.

Paul Gascoigne

Paul ‘Gazza’ Gascoigne was arrested this morning for being drunk and disorderly after a disturbance near his home in Newcastle.

The 42-year-old was taken to a police station after his arrest around 2.15am before being given a fixed penalty fine and released.

Twiggy is the latest celebrity to come under fire concerning airbrushing after it was revealed that her photograph for the Olay campaign had been heavily altered.

The advert is being criticised by watchdogs leading to calls to ban all airbrushing as it gives consumers a misleading impression.  The 60-year-old, was shown without a wrinkle in the Olay advertisement which differed from other photographs taken of the model around the same time.

The sister-in-law of Eddie Murphy,  Tisha Taylor Murphy, has died at the age of just 44 after a two-year battle with cancer.

The comedian/actor brother of Eddie, Charlie Murphy, married Tisha in 1997 and the couple had two children, a daughter Eva and a son Xavier.

Ryan O

Ryan O’Neal and his son Redmond, arrived at court yesterday in Malibu to face charges of drug possession after crystal meth was found at their home in September.

After spending just a few minuted in the court the judge put the case back until January 9th so that their lawyer could have more time to prepare the case.

Marks & Spencers have launched their Christmas TV advert and the usual M&S girls, Myleen Klass, Twiggy,  Erin O’Connor, Lily Cole and Noemie Lenoir have been joined by ‘Take That‘.

According to reports today, Jo O’Meara, formerly from the group S Club 7, had a glass thrown at her head while performing with her new band S Club 3 in Bradford last night.

A thug of 20-years old was later arrested after the incident which saw the singer fall to the floor of the Tokyo nightclub with blood pouring from her head.  She was taken to hospital where she received treatment before being released.
