Wendy Richard has had a plaque unveiled in her memory at the Shepherd’s Tavern pub in Mayfair, attended by a host of celebrities to pay tribute to the actress.

The 65-year-old actress, lost her battle with cancer in February and the plaque was uncovered to celebrate her life,  stating that she had  lived at the address from 1943 until 1953.

Liz Smith, who most recently played the part of Nana in The Royle Family, has announced that she is retiring from acting at the age of 87.

The actress has spent the past two-months in hospital after suffering a stroke and feels that further acting roles are beyond her although she is hoping to continue with her writing.

Kirsty Gallacher, now known for her stints on Ant and Dec’s Saturday night show, has become engaged after her boyfriend, rugby player Paul Sampson, proposed on Saturday.

The couple who have been together for eight years, and have a two-year-old son together called Oscar are hoping to get married sometime next year.

Rupert Grint, who plays the part of Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, is said to have contacted the swine flu virus and had been kept away from the latest film set for fear of the infection spreading.

According to reports, the 20-year-old actor has now recovered from what was said to be only a mild bout and is looking forward to returning to work this week.

The funeral of actress Wendy Richard took place yesterday at St Marylebone Parish Church in Central London attended by a host of stars.

The mourners were given an order of service on their arrival, and keeping her sense of humour to the very end, the 65-year-old had added a recipe for her favourite ‘chilli con carne’ on the back.

Britney Spears recently spent time at a children’s hospital in Florida on a day off from her ‘Circus Tour’ where she chatted to the young patients.

According to reports the singer left a donation of £100,000 for the ‘Big Apple Circus Clown Care Programme’, which entertain the patients across the country.

Robbie Williams is to make an appearance on our screens this Friday as part of a Comic Relief sketch alongside the stars of Little Britain Matt Lucas and David Walliams.

Robbie appears as a little girl, complete with dress and pigtails, who attends a sleep over with the character played by Lucas, while Walliams plays the part of the mum.

Jade Goody was christened along with her sons at the weekend in a ceremony at the hospital where she is receiving treatment to alleviate the pain she is suffering with her terminal illness.

The 27-year-old arrived in a wheelchair at the hospital chapel after being too ill to attend the church she had originally booked for the service.  Jade is said to be happy that she has now finally fulfilled her wishes, to be married to Jack Tweed and for her and her boys to be christened.

Former Eastenders actress Wendy Richard has died aged 65, following her battle with cancer. The actress passed away at an Harley Street clinic today with her husband of five-months at her side, a statement from her agent Kevin Francis, said  “She was incredibly brave and retained her sense of humour right to the end.”

The actress was best known for her role in the TV soap Eastenders, playing the role of Pauline Fowler since the programme was launched in 1985. She stayed with the soap, based in the fictitious Albert Square for 21 years, until her on screen death in 2006.

Last year in an interview with the Sunday Express, she revealed the extent of the cancer and revealed that she had already arranged her funeral and written her will.

Richard was awarded an MBE in 2007 for services to television and was also honoured with a British Soap Award Lifetime Achievement for her role in Eastenders. In the early part of her career she was best known for her comedy characterisations as the dumb blonde, a role she played with great success in Are You Being Served?

Wendy Richards is to marry her long-term partner this week after revealing that she is battling terminal cancer.

The 65-year-old actress will be starting treatment soon and wanted to have a “pain-free” day before she starts chemotherapy on October 13.

Ms. Richards has twice beaten breast cancer but now it has returned and is in her armpit, right kidney and bones.

According to reports, Chris Eubank has signed up to take part in the next ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here’.

After being declared bankrupt in 2005, the former boxer has managed to secure a lucrative deal to make his appearance on the popular reality TV show which starts next month.
