Recently it was reported that staff at the hospital where Britney Spears was being treated, were fired after reading private medical notes on the star and then leaking news to the press.

Now the same has happened to Farrah Fawcett at a Los Angeles hospital where the actress has been being treated for her cancer.

The doctors declared Farrah, 61 years old, free from cancer in February 2007, but unfourtunately, a few months later, the cancer had returned.

Her Attorney, Kim Swartz said “She’s a very private person and she’s reluctant to go public about this, let alone take legal action.  She’s fighting for her life.  It’s disturbing to her when there are false reports that she’s given up and wants to die, when the opposite is true.  She’s a strong person and a fighter.”

Ms Fawcett had apparently expressed concern to a doctor in May that certain details of her condition were being leaked to the press, and he reported it to the hospital executives.  Details of her cancer treatment were shown in the National Enquirer after an employee at the hospital had accessed her records without authorisation.

A spokeswoman for the UCLA would not confirm the firing of a member of staff or specify the disciplinary action.

The tabloids had published details about the recurrence before of the star’s cancer before she had a chance to tell her family and friends, said Ms Swartz.

Alan Smith, Senior reporter at the Enquirer told a newspaper that Fawcett’s cancer is newsworthy.  He added “We publish what we believe to be accurate.”

A documentary is currently being produced about the former ‘Charlie’s Angels’ star by Craig J Nevius on her battle with cancer and he said “She is cautiously optimistic.  Farrah has learned the hard way that with cancer, the test is time.  At the moment she has no detectable cancer.”

Let’s hope the beloved American actress makes a full recovery and is left in peace with her family to deal with her illness.
