Julie Walters famed for her parts on television, screen and stage was made an OBE in 1999 and now today she has been made an CBE.
The actress received the honour for services to drama from the Prince at Buckingham Palace, where the Prince was to have told her that he loved the movies featuring the boy wizard.
Julie Walters said of her career over the last decade “Its been a very good ten years in terms of baftas”, “I got one in 1983 then never got anything then suddenly in the noughties I went and got five.”
The actress’s first big part was starring opposite the great Michael Caine in the film ‘Educating Rita’, then in 2001 she went onto star in ‘Billy Elliot’, where she played the part of the dance teacher.
Julie has had a string of other successes such as ‘Mrs Overall’ in ‘Acorn Antiques’, one of many parts with her friend, the comedian and writer Victoria Woods as well as films ‘The Blackstuff’ and ‘Calendar Girls’.
