According to reports yesterday, the father of Blake Fielder-Civil, and father-in-law of Amy Winehouse, was seriously injured after a bicycle crash.

Lance Fielder, 67, was racing his bicycle while circuit training near his home in Leicestershire, when he crashed and went over the handlebars.  He was left unnoticed in a ditch for three hours until he was eventually found and air-lifted to hospital.

He has apparently undergone emergency surgery for a spinal injury at the Queen’s Medical Centre, but doctors fear he may be paralysed.

His wife, Jane said “At the moment, he’s paralysed but it is too early to say if he will be permanently paralysed.  I was really worried.  After calling the police I went out looking for him.  By sheer fluke a lady in a tractor had seen the bicycle and spotted him lying in a ditch
